Sedimentology lab
The lab has a total surface of ~2,000 sqft. The lab is equipped with wireless/wired internet access, 120 linear feet of benches for core and sample processing, a core photography set-up, and extensive shelf and storage space.

Wink Vibracore: This vibracore can penetrate a variety of sedimentary materials up to 45 feet deep (with the current setting ), with the possibility to add more in 5-foot intervals. Coring capability: 45 ft with 2 1/4 inches rods; 5 ft with 1 1/4 inches rod. The ability to drill without any lubricating fluid makes the corer ideal for preventing sample contamination and to be used in cold and regulated environments.

Malvern Panalytical Mastersizer 3000 Hydro EV - measures sediment grain size distribution in water solution. The factory operational range is 0.01 - 3500 µm. The Hydro Sight accessory allows real-time pictures of the particles in the laser diffraction measurement flow.
